Our story began in 2015 when Chaz and Theresa were both studying in rural town of Rockhampton, Australia. They knew of each other, but it wasn’t until a few days before Theresa left for the States that they budded a friendship. After graduating from her undergraduate degree, Theresa decided she wasn’t done with Australia and returned to complete her graduate degree that placed her in Brisbane. Little did she know, 4 months into her studies, Chaz was assigned a job placement in the same city. Chaz had heard through the grape vine that Theresa was back in Australia and asked to meet up for a drink. They instantly picked their friendship back up which quickly developed into more. Chaz and Theresa spent the rest of her 8 months in Australia exploring, travelling and falling in love. On the day she left back to the US they did not know where their relationship would lead them, but they knew deep down that if it was meant to be that it would be. Chaz and Theresa spent the next year and a half apart, only seeing each other twice in that time. After a lot of discussion with each other and our families, Chaz decided to take a leap of faith and moved to America for Theresa and never looked back. Their relationship has been anything but traditional or “the norm”. Whether it was due to long distance, battling with visas, the heartache of missing our families or a global pandemic, their love for each other has always triumphed. “We are so fortunate to be loved and supported by friends and family, near and far, and look forward to continuing our story” – Chaz & Theresa
