We met how so many Summit County couples have met; at the good 'ol Snake River Saloon. It was 2018, and the Keystone Ski Patrol Red Coat party. Cam was in the corner, holding a pitcher of PBR and chatting with friends. Mel was there, meeting what would (eventually) be her new Summit County family. There was an instant connection from across the bar. Not much came of that for some time, but we both remember the exact moment. Over the next couple of years, our paths would cross a few more times at the Snake, on the hill at Keystone, at Ultimate Frisbee on Wednesday nights, and at other social events. It wasn't until August of 2020, when Mel sent Cam a Snapchat message, that everything changed... just a couple of new-ish friends chatting until FINALLY Cam asked Mel on the first date to Highside Brewing in Frisco. Cam was on time for the date, sitting on the rock outside in the back parking lot, patiently waiting for Mel. Little did he know, this is what his forever would look like. Mel was late, obviously, and even more delayed by the walking boot she had to put on before getting out of the car. (Embarrassing but also so typical). A simple dinner turned into hours of chatting, laughing, and learning so much about each other. That dinner turned into an invite on a 'casual' Upper C river trip... and it was all over from there. We knew this was a forever thing. Since then, we've built the most incredible life together. Our dogs became doggy sisters. Our respective friend groups have become our chosen family. Individual hobbies became our hobbies. We have traveled the world, bought our beloved raft, each changed careers multiple times, and lived in 5 homes together until we finally bought our own. We are so grateful to have the most amazing friends and family around us, supporting us over the past four years. We cannot wait to start a new journey on August 14th, 2025 (our fifth dating anniversary) as Husband and Wife. We can't thank you enough for making the trip to Lyons. We are so excited to spend time with everyone and celebrate on the river, our favorite place in the world.
