Our love story began thanks to a mutual friend introducing us. Our friend invited us both over to watch the Virginia Tech vs UNC football game. Dylan was aware that Katie would be at the gathering but Katie had no idea there was a master plan ensuing. After Katie drove Dylan and his roommate home she found out about the whole set up. We saw each other the next day at a college football watch party that we were both invited to. We picked up right where we had left off from the night before. After the party we ended up with friends at City Beach, a karaoke bar in Richmond. Katie finally had her High School Musical moment after Dylan signed us up to sing "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys. We ended up talking for hours before Dylan finally asked Katie out on a date. Two days later we had our first date at The Hill Cafe in Church Hill. After dinner we made our way over to Libby Hill where we watched the perfect sunset over the city. It was the ~Start of Something New~ that has now led to getting to spend a lifetime together!

Katie had planned what she thought was a girls weekend with her college roomies. Nothing out of the ordinary as they try to get together once a quarter. The girls had been adamant they do this girls weekend in Richmond since it was right before Katie's 30th birthday — a perfect ploy for Dylan's master plan. The weather forecast showed that it was going to be HOT so Katie had suggested to the girls they pick up food from Stella's Market and have a picnic at Maymont Park, a Richmond staple. They grabbed their food and headed to the park. As they were "looking" for a spot to have the picnic, they came over a hill and low and behold there's Dylan standing in a gazebo. Katie immediately realized what was happening and started shaking and ugly crying. It was a complete surprise. After Dylan got down on one knee and we took a couple photos we headed to my aunt's house where our closest friends and family were waiting for us to celebrate. It truly was the most special day.
