Question

Passport

Answer

If you have not traveled internationally recently, please ensure your passport is up to date. Most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country if their passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel. That means if your passport has less than six months remaining until the expiration date, you should renew it right away. You may renew your passport through the USPS: https://www.usps.com/international/passports.htm#renewbymail And online: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/have-passport/renew-online.html

Question

How can I get around if I don't rent a car?

Answer

If you stay in Rethymno town, you can get around by foot. But if you do need a taxi, you can order at a taxi stand. If you are staying outside of town and cannot find a taxi to hail, you can call a service: 0030 28310 25000 or number on Whatsapp: 0030 6979604440 For the day of the wedding we will have a shuttle service (see below)

Question

What do I need to rent a car?

Answer

It is advised you get an international driver's license if you are planning on renting a car in Greece. You can get this very simply through AAA. Please see https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html for more details Please use extra caution when driving in Crete.

Question

Some things to keep in mind

Answer

- You will likely exclusively drink bottled water (at restaurants it is offered still or sparkling) - Don't flush any paper down the toilets in Greece! It seems totally odd to us Americans but remember to put every piece of tissue into the bin.

Question

Luggage Tracking

Answer

A travel hack we recommend is placing airtags or tracking devices in your suitcases. While it is hopefully unlikely your luggage does not arrive with you, it could be very beneficial to know exactly where your luggage is to track it down.

Answer

Police: 100 Ambulance: 166 Fire and Rescue: 199 European Union's universal emergency number: 112 (112 is the equivalent to 911 in the US)
