Chicago's "Museum Campus", where the Adler Planetarium resides, is also home to the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium. Museum Campus is truly one of my favorite parts of Chicago, especially during non-summer months when peak tourist crowds have died down. All three of these museums are great for kids and adults! A "CityPass" can also be purchased that will give you entry to each museum (as well as the Art Institute and the Sky Deck) for almost 50% off.
While The Bean itself is a unique and interesting sculpture that every tourist should check out, it also provides a good excuse to walk through Millenium Park and Michigan Avenue, which are right in the center of the Chicago Loop. "Park Grill" is a convenient restaurant located right next to The Bean.
I can't recommend this tour enough! Even if architecture isn't your thing (although you still may be surprised how much you enjoy this tour), it's a fun way to explore Chicago's rivers that you wouldn't get to experience via car or train. There is even a bar onboard to order snacks and drinks, which makes the tour that much more fun!
