Cal vs. Texas football game – Austin, TX: After a thrilling Cal victory (GO BEARS!), Katie and Kevin met for the first time out on Rainey Street celebrating with their friend groups. Parading around in his “Go Bears!” headband, blue Cal polo, and bright yellow pants…Kevin bought Katie a drink and they hit it off instantly. It is still questioned today what Katie saw in that tall man dressed in that getup, but who could blame her for being a little interested! Over the next couple months, Katie and Kevin were inseparable. Coffee hangouts (even though Katie hated coffee and would just order hot chocolate), late night Yogurt Park runs, even a trip to London… they didn’t want to spend a moment apart. Kevin even watched all of Katie’s Cal Dance Team performances at football and basketball games. Katie always jokes that Kevin has big dance dad shoes to fill…(thanks, Craig!). Fast forward to September of 2019 – a “best friends” trip to Nashville, TN. Katie, Kevin, and some of their closest friends (after quick stops in Atlanta and Chattanooga) headed out to Nashville for a weekend of country music on Broadway. Kevin thought it would be a great idea to stop at Belle Meade Winery for a tasting before they got into town. It was here, in front of all of their friends, that Kevin asked Katie to marry him. Wearing a sundress with peaches on it (as if she knew what was happening…or just a lucky coincidence), Katie said yes! Cheers to THE PEACHES!
