We became friends through Emily Talbot, his cousin, while they lived together in 2017. The three of us were inseparable over the course of the next year and a half, but there were absolutely no feelings beyond friendship between Cody and Courtney. In December of 2018, Courtney's move to Dallas fell through and her storage unit flooded all in the same week! That's when Cody realized he wanted to be there for her and admitted to himself he liked her more than a friend. He always felt like "home" to her, but only thought of him as a close friend. He went out on a limb to express feelings to her while she moved in with he and Emily "temporarily", but she rejected him. After living with him and watching him date another girl shortly thereafter, she slowly started to come to her senses. She realized that their strong friendship, his consistency in character, thoughtfulness, and humor were exactly what she wanted in a partner but had been too scared to let him out of the friend zone. A couple months later, she very awkwardly and nervously asked out a now single Cody before heading out to work. He was excited/shocked, said yes, and asked where she was going to take them on their first date. She turned it around on him and had him plan the date! He took her to the Christian Dior exhibit (all because she mentioned one time that she wanted to go!) followed by a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant in downtown Denver. We had a great time, but the two of us often did similar things together (i.e. go to the zoo, hang out at the pool, dinners, movie days, etc). The first kiss after the date - FIREWORKS! - is what sealed the deal for us and we immediately decided to go head first into dating, which has led us to making our roommate situation a little more permanent than originally planned!
