Although, both were skeptics of the whole "online dating" thing, they both were still willing to give it a try… It all started with a swipe to the right on "Okay Cupid" by Donna. Yup, that's right, she swiped right first! So the emailing began, which lead to exchanging of phone numbers, and the text messages began to fly. After a few weeks of getting to know each other via text, they decided they had enough in common to meet in person. Their first date took place on Friday, December 26, 2013 at Cadillac Ranch at the Washington Harbor. Oscar, to make sure he wasn't being duped, parked outside of the restaurant to make sure Donna was who she said she was and he wasn’t being “catfished”. As he watched her walk in, he was vastly relieved, that she indeed looked like her bio, and had high hopes for a successful evening. However, the “not so blind” date went as most do. Slightly awkward, weird nervous laughter, not sure what to talk about, not…you know how it goes. Final thought…it wasn’t “great”, but it wasn’t “horrible” either. They both agreed to go on a second. Now, perhaps that wasn’t the wisest choice to make either, as they proposed to get together on New Years Day! Both were severely tired, maybe slightly hung over from the prior nights NYE festivities and both lacked the enthusiasm generally needed to enjoy a date. But off to the movies they went to watch “Wolf of Wall Street”. As expected, the date was a bit of a dud. Neither were up to socializing or made much effort to interact with each other. However, their story is not over...they say Third Time is a Charm, right? Well, in their case is was. On their third date, they returned to the National Harbor to Pastime Sports Bar. Laying aside all their nervousness, letting their walls come down, and allowing themselves to finally just be themselves… BOOM immediate and instant connection. They found their chemistry! So to the skeptics out there, real love CAN be found online! They are living proof!
Just a nice dinner out with family right? Or so she thought! Unbeknownst to her, Oscar had long been behind the scenes to orchestrate. Starting with the talk and “blessing” from Momma. Plans began to take shape. Family dinner in Old Town Alexandria at The Chart House. The food was great, the view was amazing and the atmosphere was just right. As sunset was coming on, it was “suggested” that we all walk down to the water and take some family pictures. As they approached the gazebo Oscar took Donna’s hand and asked “Let’s take ours first”. As they stood under the gazebo, Oscar turned to face her and took both of her hands into his. As Donna’s mom Cindy and sister Renee (with camera in hand), and Oscar’s son Gio watched and bore witness…Oscar, with words from his heart, got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. Through tears, shock and the feeling of “HELL YES”, Donna said Yes! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you.
