We met online. It was magical. I made a profile. He made a profile. Then an algorhythm brought our profiles together. "Science for the win." The date itself was defintely not what I would have planned, but it worked. The weekend prior I had been in a decently bad bicycle accident which resulted in my chin being split open and my jaw not working for a bit. I luckily had my stitches removed, but I still had those lovely white strips. We met at a coffee shop. Neither Ted nor I had drivable cars at the time, so we both showed up in ubers. I figured a coffee date would last at most a couple of hours. Then I would uber home where my mom would pick me up to go to my sister-in-law's birthday party. Despite white strips starting to fall off my face, we kept talking for about 4 hours. When I realized it, I knew I wouldn't be able to make it home in time to meet my mom. So the date that started with a man and woman in their 30s without cars (real winners) and continued with strips falling off my face and pain when trying to smile or open my mouth, ended in the only appropriate way that I can think of. My mom picked me up. I knew Ted had to find me attractive at this point. But.... it worked. He asked me on another date, and the rest is history.
It all happened on Valentines Day, because Ted was obviously feeling cliche. Earlier in the day, while I was at work, I got a text message asking about going for a walk before our dinner plans. Ted drove us to a park where we played on the playground and then went for a walk to a bit. On our walk we started picking up random golfballs off of the golf course. I do not think they were in play. Oh well! We eventually ended up by the Shakespeare in the Park stage, which was the site of one of our early dates. After messing with this weird half-naked sculpture, Ted handed me a clearly tampered with Ringpop package. It was eerily rectangular for a ringpop. I opened it and there was this cool wooden box. I opened that, and there was the ring. Ted then asked me, kind of bashfully, if I would marry him. After saying I guess, and getting the ring on... I asked if I got the ringpop too. Ted, knowing me, pulled the ringpop out of his pocket and said "I somehow knew you would want this."
