How We Met

Sometimes the best things in life come unexpectedly...

At Central Washington University, Hannah was looking for a job on campus and Tyler was finishing up his degree. A friend encouraged Hannah to apply at the book store at CWU, the Wildcat Shop, since that is where she was working and loved it. Tyler was also working at the Wildcat Shop, but was quite busy wrapping up his final classes and Commercial Pilot training before graduation. Hannah covered many of Tyler's shifts so they never had the chance to formally meet until the Wildcat Shop senior party at the store manager's house. The same friend that encouraged Hannah to apply for the Wildcat Shop also gave Tyler the amazing idea to ask Hannah to coffee that next week. With it being near summer, neither Hannah or Tyler went into the date with any expectations or pressure for what the outcome of the date would be. A quick coffee date turned into a three hour conversation and finding so much in common. The days following were filled with fun dates and both of them realizing they had found their person. Thankfully that summer with Hannah working near home and Tyler's internship in Seattle, they were able to spend lots of time together. The rest is history...

The Proposal

12-31-2018

As tradition goes Tyler, along with Hannah and his family, went to their mountain cabin on Rimrock Lake near White Pass, WA to spend New Year’s Eve. The cabin was a very special place for the both of them since they loved spending time there. Tyler designed an original structure to be built using pallets and Christmas lights. The actual construction was done when Tyler and his brother, Cody, hauled the supplies up just after Thanksgiving. Although it was raining and muddy, they were both able to construct this half-gazibo style stucture in a manner to survive the next two months of harsh winter weather. New Year’s Eve night required quite a bit of stealth in order to keep everything a surprise. With a lack of cellular coverage it was a group effort to get Hannah’s family to the cabin area then be brought in by snowmobile. This was all able to be done while Tyler and Hannah were down at “the beach” setting up where the proposal and annual bon fire would take place. Little did she know she was helping her own proposal happen. Since Tyler is very particular about pictures and wanted the moment to be photographed, he worked to have his brother take a picture of them in front of the structure. While this was happning, Tyler’s parents drove down to the beach while Hannah’s parents, younger brother Carter, and close friends Amy and Michaela hid in the bed of the truck. With the truck in position and camera ready, Tyler turned toward Hannah and began to tell her how much he loved her. She immediately put all the pieces together and knew what was happening. The moment continued with Hannah tearing up as Tyler got on one knee and her family quietly jumped out of the truck to join them. Cheers, happy tears and champagne followed as everyone then joined by the bon fire in the company of many family friends of the cabin area. Of course it also wouldn’t be a New Year’s Eve without a firework show.
