Our Story

As 2020 dawned with uncertainty on the horizon, two souls were about to discover why timing is everything. In New York City, Jacob carried on with city life, while in Massachusetts, Ashley walked familiar streets, both not knowing that an old friend of Jacob's, who was also a new friend of Ashley's, held the thread that would weave their destinies together.  On February 28th, just as the world teetered on the edge of an unprecedented change, their love bloomed in the digital space between them. Rather than the newly lit spark dimming in the face of distance, it transformed into something extraordinary – a fire of passion, connection, and friendship the two had never quite experienced before. Synchronized cooking of their favorite dishes over FaceTime became their happy place, shared films started at the same time as their theater, and late-night conversations their sanctuary. Friday nights were date nights for the couple. Through iPhone screens, they painted portraits of their lives with words. Stories about their childhoods and families, fears, dreams, wants, and values. Though from opposite sides of the country, though with different upbringings, experiences, and hobbies, the two shared the same wants and values – the values that became the foundation of something greater than they ever expected. The perfect yin and yan. Though they had yet to hold hands, their feelings for one another grew strong. Reflections on how they've felt like they've known each other their whole lives happened daily. The two didn't realize that they had known each other their entire lives – perhaps not their face, but their hearts. April brought Ashley to New York City for a little over a week. How could the two be falling for someone they've never held? They had to see each other. They had to confirm what they thought they already knew but didn't utter to one another. In Peter Cooper Village – now their home – time stood still for ten precious minutes. They stood before each other, words unnecessary in the profound silence of recognition. It was the kind of silence that speaks volumes, where souls whisper "finally" and hearts understand why every previous chapter had to end the way it did. Every perceived flaw in past relationships suddenly revealed itself as a guidepost, leading them to this precise moment. It was at that point the two understood their pasts and saw their future. On May 5th, when Jacob asked Ashley to be his girlfriend, it wasn't just a question – it was an acknowledgment of something their hearts had known since February. The following 10 months became a testament to their dedication and love for one another, as they bridged the distance between Massachusetts and New York with unwavering commitment. March 2021 marked Ashley's move to the city with her sister Sam and the formation of an inseparable trio, proving that love doesn't just build partnerships – it creates families.  Now, their home with their dog Winston stands just two minutes from where they first embraced – a poetic reminder that sometimes the greatest journeys lead us in circles, back to the places where our hearts first recognized home. On June 3rd, 2023, at the Turtle Pond in Central Park, Jacob asked Ashley to spend forever with him. It was on this day that their love story turned another page – one that had been writing itself since that first speechless moment three years before.  Their story, born in the uncertainty of a global pause, proves that even in the most unexpected times, love finds its way, writing stories more beautiful than we could have scripted ourselves. In the coordinates of chaos, they found their true north in each other.
