Our Story

A Love Story Only God Could Write

We always say our story is proof of God’s perfect timing. After Angela swore she “wasn’t a dating app girl,” we met on Hinge — a divine appointment disguised as a swipe. From before we even met, both of us were prayerfully seeking the person God had for us. We pictured ourselves taking things slow, but it didn’t take long to see that this was different and that God's timing for us was different. We both knew pretty quickly that we had found the one whom our soul loves (Song of Solomon 3:4). Our first date was on a Sunday morning — fittingly, starting with church and then tacos afterward. During that very first church service together, Ryan asked if we could go up to the prayer team after worship and have them pray over the two of us. It was his way of inviting God into the center of whatever we might become from the very beginning — and it was in that moment that Angela knew this was something real and set apart. What was supposed to be lunch turned into an all-day adventure: walking through the Fort Worth Zoo, and then wandering the aisles of Barnes & Noble, where we picked out books for each other. That day set the tone for everything that’s followed. Whether we’re riding horses, traveling, watching a show, or simply reading side by side in quiet “parallel play,” we’re never in a hurry to part — every moment together feels like a gift. We became best friends almost instantly, but more than that, we became partners in purpose. From the start, we prayed that our lives and our love would point only to Him — and it feels fitting that our story has been written in such a way that it’s impossible to tell it without talking about God at the center. So many parts of our story go against what either of us might have expected: Angela meeting her person on a dating app she swore she’d never use, and Ryan — who planned to take things slow — proposing just three months later. Every step has been marked by the reminder that when we surrender our plans, His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:9). The time we each spent stewarding our singleness and chasing after the Lord individually shaped us into the man and woman He designed for one another. Our relationship is built on the truth that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Now, we’re moving forward hand in hand, eager to “run with perseverance the race set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1–2). Every step of our journey — from a Hinge match to a holy covenant — has been written by His hand, and we can’t wait to see what He writes next.
