Amy and Aaron’s friendship first started at church, where Amy happened to sit behind Aaron. Aaron had moved to Chicago from California to start pharmacy school at UIC and had left behind family, friends, and warm clothes. Amy had moved to Chicago from Korea at the age of 12 and stayed for college and pharmacy school at UIC. She was also the wiser of the two as she had warm clothes in abundance. Aaron got his first-hand experience of Midwest hospitality when handed a scarlet scarf from Amy while shivering in his “nice winter coat” that was actually designed for fall. As they began to bond over many shared interests, they realized their relationship was more than a friendship. Both loved Christ, shared an undying passion for Lord of the Rings (including being able to recite lines from the movie), and found compatibility in varied personality traits. On a cold, snowy night, for what would be their first date at the Lincoln Park Zoo, Aaron asked Amy to be his girlfriend. They would share many memories. Four years later, at that same location, Aaron would get down on a knee to ask his best friend another question.
