Our Love Story

[him] We first met at the wedding of a friend of mine and Amanda's relative in March of 2021. I was married and Amanda was single and not looking. We were both in the wedding party. The wedding coordinator placed us to walk out at the reception together at the last minute. We had approximately five minutes of conversation that day, and I just remember thinking that Amanda seemed like a nice woman. Fast forward to 5 months later, and I'm finalizing a divorce. When I decided I wanted to get back out on the market, I thought of Amanda. I immediately reached out to her and pursued getting to know her better, with hopes of taking her on a date in the future. [her] Alex pursued me hard at the beginning. I was "not in a dating season" and I refused to be more than friends at the time. Our conversations flowed easy and we had spent hours on the phone. He had red roses delivered to my front door and I sent a text over saying, "thanks for the friendly flowers." [yeah... I'll never live that one down!] [him] I enjoyed our many a nights talking on the phone, texting, and audio messaging. I was smitten, despite Amanda not showing any interest outside of being friends. However, I knew I would get what I wanted in the end, and that was Amanda. I thought about her all day, every day. I told friends and coworkers about her. I even told my Dad that I would marry her someday. I knew where this was going. [her] There was this "God moment" that shifted my stance. I received an email from Ms. Virginia (my grandmother's best friend) suggesting that I be open minded and give Alex a chance. The email felt random, but also like... a sign. It was what I needed. [him] When Amanda said "yes" to going with me to the 2021 Braves vs. Astros World Series Game 4 in Atlanta, I knew that was all I needed. Once we spent time together and she got to know me a bit, there would be no turning back for us. Game on. [her] Alex flew up from Lakeland and I drove in from Nashville. The chemistry was strong from the moment we met at the hotel elevator in Atlanta, but I was in denial until I had to say goodbye at the airport the next day. Alex respected my wish to remain only friends and I was so disappointed that he didn't kiss me goodbye. Without thinking and within seconds of him walking into the airport... before I even drove off from the terminal, I sent Alex a text saying, "I miss you already."

The Proposal

08.05.22

We were visiting family in Nashville. Alex asked if we could go to dinner just us. A date in my favorite city with my favorite person? Of course I wanted that! We started walking towards the restaurant and Alex suggested we stop by a wine bar (he knows I love a great glass of wine). Then we walk up to the rooftop and all my girlfriends were there! It was a great surprise, but it wasn’t the ONLY surprise. I was saying hello to some late arrivers and when I turned around… Alex was in one knee! Turns out, all my friends and family knew about it.
