Question

What is a convalidation of marriage?

Answer

For Catholics marriage is a sacrament and a civil marriage is not considered valid if the couple doesn’t marry through the church especially if the two were baptized and raised Catholics. In a convalidation ceremony you are receiving the sacrament of marriage making your marriage valid and blessed through the church.
