Children are unable to attend any wedding events. We love your kids, but we want our weekend to be a vacation for you too! We know this is a lot to ask, but we appreciate you keeping all wedding events as adult only.
Folly Beach is a short drive from both Downtown Charleston (20 minutes) and the Charleston Airport (35 minutes).
We are planning on being in Folly Beach starting on December 24th, and will be staying for several days after the wedding as well. You arrival and departure is totally up to you - we'd love for you to make a vacation out of this and stay for as long as you can/want to! If you are in the Wedding Party, the Rehearsal Dinner is *most likely* taking place on Thursday December 29. We suggest arriving on Wednesday the 28th or Thursday the 29th early in the day. If you are not in the wedding party, please arrive whenever you'd like! We will be welcoming all wedding guests to meet us on Friday December 30th for a welcome BBQ to kick off the weekend!
Yes please! All guests are required to RSVP so we can get an accurate count for all hosted events throughout the weekend.
We'd love to know if you can make it - please RSVP by October 10th, 2022 using the RSVP tab on our website!
Simply type in your name on the RSVP tab. You will be able to accept or decline for yourself and guest(s) if applicable. Once you RSVP, we will receive a notice. If you have any issues with the website, or are uncertain about anything please feel free to contact us and we can mark you down as attending or unable to attend.
There are rental cars available at the Charleston airport, or if you don't want to have a car you can easily grab an uber at the airport to bring you to Folly! There are golf carts available for rent in Folly to cruise around in as well. Ubers are not readily available once in Folly like they are in the Downtown Charleston area, but with a little patience you can usually track one down.
If you are coming down for longer than a day or two then you may want to rent a car to explore the area! If you plan on staying in Folly, then you won't need a car. The main area of Folly Beach is very walkable, and there are golf carts for rent if you did want to cruise around in one!
This is a formal affair - it is New Years Eve so why not let ourselves get a little fancy?! Suits for men, dresses of any length for women. What's important is that you feel good on the dance floor!
While there isn't a large grocery store right in Folly Beach, there is Bert's market which has the basics (along with some extremely delicious breakfast sandwiches, burgers, booze, and is open 24 hours). Just over the bridge in James Island there are lots of groceries stores where you can stock up!
We highly recommend getting together in groups and renting a house through Airbnb or VRBO on the West Side of Center Street in Folly Beach. There are so many options in Folly, many of which are right on the beach! If renting a house isn't of interest to you, or you're only able to make it down for a night or two, there are rooms at the Tides Hotel and the Water's Edge Inn. The Tides hosts a ticketed NYE party every year, so if you do want to stay there we recommending booking ASAP! *We DO NOT recommend staying in Downtown Charleston or James Island. On NYE they put up an alcohol check-point to get on and off Folly Beach. Stay right there, and you won't have to worry about any of that! Additionally, they close the main drag (Center Street) to vehicle traffic, so you definitely want to stay on the West side of the island which is where the wedding ceremony and reception will take place!
Bring layers! Charleston in the Winter could be 50 degrees or it could be 75 degrees! NYE 2021 it was 71 degrees, so we are hoping for that - fingers crossed!
