Lauren and Caleb met in high school in Big Bear, California... kind of. They exchanged a high-ended estimate of 5 words at youth group once. Their paths were never meant to cross early in life. Lauren went to school at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo CA and Caleb went to school at Whitworth University in Spokane WA. They both went their separate ways after high school. Lauren ended up pursuing christian ministry working with YWAM, landing herself in places like Cambodia, Panama, and Haiti, spreading the kindness of the Lord to everyone she met. Caleb studied biology at Whitworth, pursuing a job in fisheries conservation and landing a job in Spokane as a fish habitat biologist. After leaving YWAM, Lauren had decided to move to Enumclaw, WA to work with friends she had met while in Cambodia. After a few months of living in Washington, she noticed that someone she went to high school with was living in Washington, and it caught her attention. She messaged Caleb on Instagram out of the blue, and their interest blossomed. On the weekend of the 4th of July, she traveled across the state to visit with some of her friends in Couer d'Alene, Idaho and subsequently re-met someone she never actually knew. That weekend was the beginning of their story together. Although there was a 5 hour distance between the two, they made a decision to not let distance be the determining factor. The following months were filled with long FaceTime calls, long drives, and longing hearts, and resulted in the two of them making a decision to spend the rest of their lives with each other.
