Mason and Janelle’s story began in Fort Lauderdale during college spring break in 2020. In a crowded sea of people, their eyes met—and for a moment, it felt as though the rest of the world simply faded away. When the trip ended, Mason returned to Virginia and Janelle to Michigan, just as the world was shutting down. In the midst of so much uncertainty, they found comfort in each other—spending hours on FaceTime, laughing, sharing dreams, and falling for one another from miles apart. On July 4th, 2020, Mason visited Janelle, and they made their relationship official under the glow of holiday fireworks. Their adventure took them to Nashville, TN, where they lived for a short time while Janelle awaited news of her acceptance into PA school. Just eight months later, she was accepted into Central Michigan’s PA Program, and they once again faced the challenge of long distance. For the next 27 months, they cherished every visit, counting down the days until they could finally call the same place home again. In September 2024, Janelle moved back to Tennessee, and after years of waiting, they were finally reunited. Then, on February 1st, 2025, Mason asked Janelle to marry him—a moment years in the making. Though most of their love story was written across state lines, every mile and every challenge only brought them closer. Their relationship has been unconventional and tested in ways they never imagined, but their love proved stronger than any distance.
