we're getting married!

Tony and I met at a bar in Memphis, TN eight years ago. I was 21 years old! (What's that statistic about finding the person you marry by the time you're 21? yea...) I had just moved back to Memphis from Oxford to take a break from school and I did what you do in 2010 - looked for a job on Craigslist. I found one as a cocktail waitress at a new bar in town called The Dublin House. I got the job and started that December. Tony was a regular at the bar. He and I developed a friendly acquaintanceship - which obviously had nothing to do with his frequency in the bar 😉 We hung out a few times over the next 6 months then I quit the bar and never saw Tony again. Fast forward to 2016 - He was in Plano, TX. I was in Plano, TX. Of all the places he could have lived in DFW, he lived five exits away. We texted and planned to meet for over a year. After much anticipation, we finally met up for a drink and it was just like old times. We hit it off! Three years later, we're doing the damn thing! In all seriousness, we both feel like the luckiest people in the world to have found each other again. It's insane. I can't believe it.

We went to Harper's Ferry, WV for my birthday. We arrived the day before my birthday, explored the town and found our way up to Jefferson Rock. The view overlooks where the beautiful Shenandoah River and Potomac River meet and it's high up on the top of the hill. (Thomas Jefferson famously stated "This scene is worth a voyage across the Atlantic!" and he wasn't lyin.) The scene could not have been more beautiful! We climbed on a rock and talked about our future. Tony got down on one knee (yes, on a rock) and asked me to marry him. It could not have been more perfect. Best birthday ever.
