Emma and Chris met at Flinders Christian Community College when Chris was the new guy, joining mid term of year 7. Over the next two years, Emma and Chris became friends, and in 2009 Emma called early dibs on Chris as her deb partner, two years in advance! Until late 2010, Chris and Emma became closer as friends and found their bond as cooking partners in Food class. In December 2010, Fiona (Emma's mum) asked them to make a gingerbread house for Christmas, something previously learnt in Food class. The gingerbread house was made, a first kiss was had and there was no turning back. On 31 January 2011, after a day at a friends pool party, Chris took Emma for a walk to the back paddocks of Louise & Tony's (Chris's parents) property and asked Emma to be his girlfriend...and the rest is history.
As a surprise birthday present, Chris handed Emma an envelope on her 25th birthday promising a special lunch, and night away in the Yarra Valley, all just to get a bottle of Shiraz Gin from Four Pillars that Emma wished for. After lunch at Levantine Hill, the pair drove to Kangaroo Ridge Retreat, a private cabin with valley views. While admiring the sunset and drinking sparkling red wine, Chris got on one knee and popped the big question, responded to with a big (and long awaited) YES and tears of surprise, delight and excitement!
