In 2018, Lucas' company (UK based) requested a meeting with the Boston based British Consulate Trade team, where Celine was working at the time. It was during this meeting that we met for the first time, sitting opposite one another at the conference room table. The meeting went well, everyone professional, and all went on their separate ways with new found business relationships. We stayed in touch for months, going back and forth on various business initiatives, all the while Lucas wondering 'what if.' Little did he know, Celine kept one of his business cards at her desk, marked with a heart drawn by her boss—who had already noticed the sparks between them. After another chance encounter at a work event in Boston, Lucas finally built up the courage to ask her out for a drink. They hit it off immediately and lost the next 4 hours to laughter and conversation. After that spontaneous date, they had to go back to the reality of living 2000 miles apart. However, they both knew this felt different and we took another chance for a second date many months later when both traveling through Orlando. They decided to spend the weekend together and explore the city, which is when they both knew this was definitely meant for more! Lucas traveled back to Boston a few weeks later where we made it "official" and decided that we could try long distance because how hard could it be?!... cue COVID Immediately after the trip, the world entered lockdown and we didn't see each other for almost 4 months. Finally, enough was enough and we started to go back and forth between Denver and Boston visiting each other once or twice a month (talk about a weird air travel experience!). Celine moved back to Arizona at the end of 2020 and Lucas followed in the summer of 2021 to take the next step of living together, and not requiring an airplane for date night. Finally, in the summer of 2023 while on a trip to Europe, Lucas popped the question standing on the side of a Swiss mountainside, right before we went hang gliding for the first time! 4 years down, forever to go!
