Our Love Story

John and Tasha met in their junior year at Anoka High School. Tasha was in need of a dance partner for the Guy/Girl homecoming dance, an event hosted by the dance team. She asked John to be her partner at the suggestion from Maddie, Johns’ twin sister and Tasha’s friend. They talked, laughed, and flirted—though John insisted it was just friendly banter. They went their separate ways after the dance, but the next year, senior year, Tasha asked John to be her partner again. Their conversations picked up where they left off, and with Maddie’s approval, their relationship continued and deepened. On December 15 2017, their senior year, John and Tasha became a couple. Dates, often over ice cream or involving a dog, were always easy and filled with laughter. On their first official date, John picked Tasha up in his well-used, heatless car, in the middle of winter (very romantic in high school). When they arrived, they were surprised when they figured out John had made reservations for the wrong date. Fortunately, the night could only go up from there; it did. That winter, they strolled through Bentleyville’s lights, starting a tradition of buying a puzzle to do together on their anniversary, though Tasha later learned John hates puzzles and was doing them just for her. Their 8-year relationship is full of wonderful memories together. While apart the first year of college, John sent Tasha’s application to the University of Minnesota-Duluth, ensuring they’d share college life, where their bond grew stronger. Taking advantage of the outdoors in northern Minnesota, they enjoyed camping by Lake Superior, where they captured sunrise photos. One camping trip, John was sent out by Tasha to scare off a raccoon that happened to get a little too close for Tasha’s comfort. They enjoyed dancing in the rain at a Jon Pardi concert, lost in the moment to their favorite artist. Together, they conquered a triathlon, cheering each other on. In Capri, Italy, Tasha’s questionable navigation led them up the 921 steps of the “Stairway to Heaven” by mistake, turning a wrong turn into a memorable and sweaty adventure. On July 20, 2024, in Duluth, where their love grew and matured, John surprised Tasha at Enger Tower with help from friends Ashley and Riley. He proposed, and Tasha said yes, only to be further surprised by family and friends gathered to celebrate. Surrounded by love, it was a happy closing of their past chapter and the beginning of a new one in their relationship. Tasha’s zest for life and John’s steady kindness keep their love strong. Shaped by the support of family and friends, they’re thrilled to celebrate their wedding in St. Joseph, surrounded by those who mean the most.
