One of our favorite hikes! The trail starts as a steady but even incline, and you'll quickly find yourself at the top for a spectacular view (bonus points for sunset)! If you have more time to spend, travel around the trails to the lake, and if they're open, hike the more challenging ice caves (like a rock scramble. Wear hiking boots/waterproof sturdy shoes).
Take a drive down New York State’s newest scenic byway and enjoy the foliage as it winds along the Delaware River. A snake-like portion of Sparrowbush, the Hawk’s Nest connects the railroad city of Port Jervis to the bluestone village of Hancock. The unique highway has been featured in many car advertisements and commercials.
Angry Orchard has a beautiful rustic space. Take a tour of the cidery and enjoy a flight to sample lots of different ciders! (We recommend any that are bourbon-infused). Enjoy some food, live music and sit out by the fire pits overlooking the Orchard!
We recommend the resiling & the Holiday Spice Wine (for those with a sweeter tooth)!
You can't come to the Hudson Valley in the fall and NOT go apple or pumpkin picking! Lawrence Farms Orchards is a family owned and operated working fruit and vegetable farm in the beautiful Hudson Valley. Visit the farm and pick the fruits and vegetables below that are in-season: Apples (Empire, Cortland, Red and Golden Delicious, Ida Red, Mutsu, Jonagold, Staymen, Northern Spy, Fuji, Rome, Granny Smith) Grapes (Concord and Niagra) Peppers (sweet and hot) Greens, Turnips, Beets Eggplant, Cabbage, Broccoli Tomatoes Pumpkins, Winter Squash, Gourds, Indian Corn
A 1.3 mile out and back moderately challenging hike with a great view of the town of Milford and the Delaware River at the top! Takes about an hour to complete. Amanda and Joe hiked this together as a part of Amanda's 52 hike challenge, and loved it Grab lunch at the Waterwheel Café, Bakery & Bar to reward yourself when you're done (or pack a picnic to enjoy at the top).
American & Vietnamese fare in a warm, historic setting with a deck & restored grist mill. If you find yourself in the adorable town of Milford, PA we recommend grabbing a bite at Waterwheel! We enjoy going here after a local hike, and sitting out on the deck with views of the Sawkill Creek. They've been a neighborhood favorite since 1989 and are a breakfast, brunch, lunch café, a bakery, a bar, a dining destination, and a music venue.
An easy .3 mile loop to view the three-tiered Raymondskill Falls in Milford PA, the tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. If you add the height of each cascade together, the waterfall is only a few feet shorter than Niagara Falls. While the trail is short, it is fairly steep and uneven. The upper viewing area provides a view of the upper pool and its large cascade. The lower viewing area provides a great photo opportunity of the falls. A spur off the main trails provides a quarter-mile, one-way walk to Raymondskill Creek. This trail spur is open from Fall to Spring, and does not lead to the bottom of the falls.
