We met in San Diego, where I've grown up and where Trevor has been stationed for his sea tour at Naval Air Station North Island. We spent our first dates getting dinners by the water, talking all night, and taking our pups to the beach. It didn't take long for us to figure out our feelings were something we've never felt before. They say when you know you know, this couldn't have been more true for us. One thing led to the next and we were taking trips together, meeting each others families, moving in together and I became Jaegers new dog mom! We continued to grow closer as we got through a long deployment, added a new member to the family (our new pup Oakley) and had a big family Christmas all spent together in California. We have been enjoying life together ever since we met. Needless to say, the rest is history and we couldn't ever picture a life without each other.
Since we typically go out to dinner once a week for date night, I thought we were just going to go eat at a restaurant in Coronado. Trevor accidentally "missed" the turn and we ended up at the beach where we walked on the sand as the sun set. Trevor pointed out boats off in the distance to get me to look in the opposite direction as he stepped behind me and got down on one knee to pop the question. Then, he told me to turn around and our friends Abby and Bobby came out from behind the sand dunes, taking pictures and videos. We got drinks at the Hotel Del after and listened to live music. Abby asked the guitarist to play us a song since we had just got engaged and without knowing us at all, he happened to play one of our favorite songs by one of our favorite artists, Chris Stapleton. It was such a special, unforgettable moment (so special, we are having him play at the wedding!) Trevor made reservations at the Bali Hai after for dinner where I thought it was just going to be the 4 of us. Little did I know, Trevor got my whole family together from up north as a surprise! It was the most special night.
