Downtown Mall
The Downtown Mall has more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants housed in historic buildings along the city's Main Street.
University of Virginia
The UVA campus is a 10 minute walk from our hotel block and is a pretty campus to walk around. Melissa has done the free history tour and thought it was very well done. The link to the tour is below.
Monticello
Take a tour of the mountaintop home of Thomas Jefferson. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is now a museum that offers a variety of different tours and grounds passes.
Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
This is where we took our engagement pictures and it is absolutely gorgeous. We went to Afton Overlook and then kept driving the parkway, stopping at multiple overlooks along the way! It's about 30 minutes outside of downtown Charlottesville but it is worth the drive.
Charlottesville Area Hiking
Check out this website for hiking in the area! A popular moderately difficult hike that Melissa has done is Humpback Rocks.
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards
This is a gorgeous vineyard about 20 minutes outside of downtown. The views are spectacular and the grounds are fun to walk around. They offer wine and a farm-to-table cuisine.
Hazy Mountain Vineyards & Brewery
About 30 minutes outside of Charlottesville, this vineyard and brewery was one of our favorites. They offer beer, wine and light bites.
King Family Vineyards
If you're around on Sunday, this vineyard hosts Polo matches that are free to watch. Even if you're not around on Sunday, this is a great winery to visit with a large lawn to sit on and take in the views.
Albemarle Baking Co
This is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel block and has lots of great pastries and coffee!
The Local
A great dinner spot! It's right next to our welcome party if you want to grab a bite to eat first.
Carter Mountain Orchard and Country Store
This orchard has phenomenal views and you can buy local fruit here. On Thursday nights they have a sunset series with live music, food trucks and sunset views.
