Tulum International Airport (TQO) or Cancun International Airport (CUN)

There are two airport options near Wakax Hacienda: Tulum International Airport (TQO): This airport is very close to the Hacienda, but it’s smaller, typically more expensive, and offers fewer direct flights from the US and Canada. It may be convenient if you find a good flight, but options are limited. Cancun International Airport (CUN): Cancun is about a 1.5-hour drive from the Hacienda. It’s a large airport with many flight options, including lots of direct and budget-friendly flights from major cities. Nick and I have rented a car from the Cancun airport twice—it’s been easy and affordable both times. Rental cars, shuttles, and private transfers are widely available. Tip: If you’re looking for the best deals and the most flexibility, we recommend flying into Cancun.

Option 2: Rental Car Recommended for guests planning to extend their Riviera Maya vacation and explore beyond the Hacienda. Rental Car Tips: - Reserve your rental car ahead of time, but spend the minimum amount of money for the initial booking. - DO NOT pay for insurance or car deposit ahead of time, many companies require you pay for liability insurance during rental car pickup. - Mexican law requires liability insurance to be purchased separately. - Many travel credit cards include damage insurance.
