FAQs

Question

The hotel’s charge is higher than my original quote. How should I handle this?

Answer

Since we originally signed our contract, the U.S. dollar has weakened. When charges are converted to pesos, the total cost may be higher than expected due to the current exchange rate. To avoid this increase, you can wire transfer your payment directly to the hotel in USD, which locks in the contracted price and avoids currency conversion. Please contact the reservations team directly for wiring instructions and assistance.

Question

How do I get from the airport to the hacienda?

Answer

After our last trip to Mexico, we found renting a car to be pretty time-consuming, so we’ve coordinated directly with the Hacienda to arrange transportation options. The Hacienda offers private airport transportation, which must be scheduled in advance through their reservations department. To help coordinate rides and keep costs down, we’ve created a flight tracker sheet so we can group guests together and share vehicles; please sign up via the link in our most recent email. • Pricing depends on how many people are in each vehicle • Cost is divided per person • Rates are one way, so please double the price for round-trip transportation • Please add your flight details as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly From/to Cancún Airport • Van (1–6 people): $3,700 pesos each way • Toyota (1–10 people): $5,100 pesos each way • Sprinter (1–17 people): $7,700 pesos each way *Prices include tax *Charges will be added to your room bill From/to Tulum Airport • Van (1–4 people): $1,900 pesos each way *Prices include tax *Payment is made directly to the driver in cash (card payments incur a 5% fee) Rental Cars Prefer to rent a car? That works too! We’ve added helpful rental tips and recommendations that can be found under the Travel tab.

Question

How long does it take to get through customs?

Answer

Expect the arrival process — including customs and baggage claim — to take approximately 45 minutes. When going through customs, there are Blocks 1–4 and you may use any of them. Typically Block 4 is the fastest — it is the furthest to the right when you reach the customs gate. If you are renting a car, that process typically takes about 45 minutes as well.

Question

Why do I have to put my final deposit in by March 2nd?

Answer

The hacienda is requesting that final room deposits are completed by March 2nd. This is to ensure check-in goes smoothly and QUICKLY (everything is a little bit slower in Mexico) so you can get settled and then get to the welcome dinner ASAP!

Question

When is check-in and check-out?

Answer

Check-in is on Thursday, March 19th at 3:00 pm. Check-out is on Sunday, March 22nd at 12:00 pm. If you need an earlier check-in or a later check-out, please reach out to the reservations team—they are lovely and very easy to work with!

Question

Can I drink the tap water?

Answer

No—please don’t drink the tap water. Each room will have safe drinking water provided. Water containers spaced throughout the hacienda in common areas are safe to drink.

Question

Is the ice safe?

Answer

Yes, the ice provided and used by the hacienda is safe to consume. However, if you leave the hacienda or are traveling to another area of Mexico before or after your stay, please be cautious with outside food and fruits/vegetables — many places use tap water for ice and for washing produce.

Question

What are the best beaches nearby?

Answer

We actually haven’t spent much time at the beaches closest to the hacienda — we usually stay on the property and enjoy the pools and water areas, or visit nearby cenotes to explore! The closest beach would be Bahía Solimán. If you’d like to venture a bit farther out, we highly recommend Tulum Ruins, and one of our favorite cenotes is Cenote Jardín del Edén. If you do leave the resort, please be cautious about leaving belongings unattended. Also be careful with outside food and water — many places use tap water for ice and washing fruits/vegetables.

Question

Answer

Question

Answer

Yes! There is complimentary bug spray under the bathroom counter. If you have a preferred brand, you may want to bring it with you. There are also citronella torches placed throughout the property to help ward off mosquitoes, but there can still be a noticeable amount — especially in the evenings.

Question

How do I sign up for activities?

Answer

One of our favorite parts about the Hacienda is all the amazing tours and activities, and we want everyone to have a chance to join in! Because space is limited for some excursions, we created a sign-up sheet. Please use the link sent in our most recent email to sign up on the Activity spreadsheet! Use the tabs at the bottom to view different days and activities. • Sign-ups close at 3 PM on Thursday upon arrival • Last-minute additions may be possible if space allows • Some tours have limited capacity due to equipment and group sizes, so we recommend signing up early If you arrive early or leave after checkout, you’re still welcome to join the tours!

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

Answer

No, yoga mats will be provided for all yoga sessions. Yoga occurs daily at the yoga shala from 9:00 - 10:00.

Question

What footwear should I pack?

Answer

For the ceremony, we recommend avoiding skinny heels. Chunky heels or wedges are a better choice — the ceremony will take place on a wooden dock with slats, and we want to prevent any twisted ankles! There are also bikes available throughout the hacienda that are very helpful for getting around. Many of the pathways around the property are dirt and rocky, so comfortable footwear is encouraged.

No adapters or voltage converters are needed — the outlets and voltage are the same as in the United States.

Pool towels are provided by the hacienda, so there’s no need to pack your own.

Question

What should I wear?
