Cody and Emily’s story started in July of 2021. They officially met at Burr Pond State Park, where they had their first (of many) hikes with their sweet Lacey girl. They quickly started exploring other state parks, which led to a year of traveling an hour and a half to see each other every weekend. Throughout this year, Cody continued to master his career in Drilling and Blasting, while Emily finished her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Their distance expanded beyond the hour and a half drive after Cody dropped Emily off across the country at her final clinical rotation in Arizona. This part of their story consisted of daily FaceTime calls and a three-hour time difference, for three months! Emily finally came home to enjoy the holidays, and during this time, they added their beloved and chaotic Bodie to the clan. The weekend trips to see each other finally came to a close when Emily got her first job and moved to Torrington. Cody worked endlessly on renovations for a whole year to build a beautiful house for them to live in. The holidays came around again and he packed up the dogs, drove them to a Christmas tree farm, and instead of kneeling down to cut the tree, he knelt down and asked Emily to marry him. Spoiler alert: she said yes! And this is just their beginning.
