Welcome to our website! Here you will find everything you need to know about our special day as well as the fun, mushy details about our relationship. We are excited to have you celebrate with us. Enjoy! - Nathan and Taylor
We were introduced through mutual friends while Taylor was living overseas. I don’t remember the first conversation about Taylor, but David – my coworker and friend (see wedding party for more info) –said that his wife had a friend that he said, she said thought we would hit it off. I think her exact words were “Kramer and Taylor would be perfect for each other.” A few things were told to me –mainly that Taylor loved God and soccer. However she was currently living overseas. So I didn’t think too much about it. At some point Taylor came back to Cruces and evidently I was brought up again while she was here temporarily visiting. We got connected on Facebook and started messaging and talking for many months. We fell out of contact but got back in touch a few months later. Our first date was to the Southern NM State Fair. We went on some subsequent dates to Andele’s, walks, and NMSU basketball games. We made our relationship official one night after an NMSU basketball victory against UTEP.
Taylor was moving to Phoenix in January 2020. We had several discussions of what that would look like for us moving forward in our relationship. We decided we liked each other enough to see where things would go. We still wanted to hang out with each other and get to know one another. We set up kind of some rules and guidance to try and communicate and when to see each other. That was going all fairly well, but of course, we all know how 2020 ended up going. There was a stretch where we didn’t see each other for 9 weeks. But we’ve been able to see each other in Cruces and in Phoenix. We’ve met up in Tucson several times as well, which has been a nice middle ground spot. It’s been challenging but they’ve been some nice mini vacations and times away. We’ve chatted over 140 hours together on Skype, with probably almost just as much time on the phone. It's much more fun in person.
We usually have been trying to see each other every 4-6 weeks through the long distance relationship. One of the next times we figured would be the first weekend in May –after some scheduling shuffling, we found out Taylor was able to fly out to Cruces. I picked her up after breakfast with her sisters and we started out on a hike toward Chimney Rock near Soledad Canyon. At a certain point, the trail veered off the main path to a more secluded part. I thought that would be the case anyway. When we started the hike there was a couple and a group of 3 that basically started at the same time as us. The group of 3 passed us but the couple was “following us”. Even once we were going a different way. I started to freak out, because I wanted to have a special moment alone. We let them pass us and ended up meeting them at a fence. The trail followed the fence to the left up the hill. The couple decided to head back down and Taylor said we could go up for a bit. The trail got fairly steep and a little rocky. A little ways up the way, Taylor sat down to take a break. We rested for a few minutes and enjoyed the moment. I asked if she wanted to continue up and she said we could. I grabbed her hands and helped her up. I started to share with her my feelings and how I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I got down on one knee and reached into my pocket for the ring and asked “Taylor, will you marry me?” She was in total shock and put her hands over her mouth. She wondered if it was really happening and if her mom was here. I told her everything was real. She said yes (twice) and we celebrated with a bit of a picnic up on the hill.
