We recommend arriving on Friday or Saturday, depending on your schedule. We’ve built flexibility into the weekend to give everyone time to settle in and explore. If you’re able to arrive on Friday, we’d love for you to join us for a welcome cocktail that evening. Saturday will be a relaxed day to acclimate, wander the city, and spend time with friends and family. We’ll gather for dinner on Saturday night, followed by the ceremony on Sunday. * For those arriving earlier in the week, we’re planning an optional volcano hike on Friday morning. More details to come! Guatemala is an incredible destination. If you have extra time after the wedding weekend, we highly recommend visiting Lake Atitlán, about three hours from Antigua.
Uber, taxi and shuttles are readily available. The drive from the airport to Antigua typically takes about 45–60 minutes without traffic, but can be longer during busy times. Please plan accordingly. We’ll be sharing recommended shuttle options closer to the date
We recommend staying in or near Antigua’s historic center. This area is very walkable and close to restaurants, shops, and wedding events. We’ll share a list of preferred hotels on the travel page!
The city of Antigua is very walkable! Uber works for calling cars or motorbikes. You can also take a taxis or tuk tuk (have some cash ready for these options)
Yes. Like many destinations, staying aware of your surroundings and following basic travel precautions is important, but Antigua is considered one of the safest and most popular places to visit in Guatemala. It’s a well-traveled destination known for its welcoming community, historic charm, and vibrant culture.
Guatemala is known as the "Land of Eternal Spring". Days are comfortable with highs around 70–73°F, while evenings cool to 55–58°F. Mornings are usually clear or partly sunny. Since October is near the end of the rainy season, there may be brief afternoon or evening showers
The currency used in Guatemala is the Quetzal (GTQ). $1 = roughly 7.67 quetzales We recommend converting some money before leaving with your bank for the best rates. You can also exchange cash at the airport, at local currency exchange offices, or withdraw from ATMs in Antigua. Credit cards are accepted in many places, but American Express is not widely accepted. Some places accept USD, but it’s best to have some local cash for taxis, tips, and small purchases.
Antigua’s weather in October is mild and comfortable, but it’s helpful to pack with both cool evenings and cobblestone streets in mind. We recommend bringing: A sweater or light jacket for cooler evenings Comfortable shoes with good support for walking on cobblestone streets Wedding attire suited for mild daytime temperatures A light rain jacket or compact umbrella in case of brief afternoon showers Sunscreen/sunglasses for sunny mornings

We took a spontaneous trip to Guatemala in 2024 and fell in love. The city is vibrant, beautiful, and incredibly welcoming. We had been dreaming of getting married somewhere fun and unique, and Guatemala felt like the perfect mix of everything we were looking for. Plus, it’s just a short flight away
