Amish Within our Community

Our lovely county is also home to one of the largest Amish communities in the US. That being said, we ask that anyone driving in our community be aware that they are sharing the road with horse-drawn carriages and bicycles. If you have never experienced this before, it can be surprising and difficult to know what to do. Please drive slowly and cautiously, as the horses can be easily startled. You can pass them as long as you do it safely and slowly. Please also be aware that it is common within this community for children and teens to ride bikes on the roads as part of traffic. We just ask that you be cautious and respectful when sharing the roads with this important part of our community. Thank you!
