Travel Note
The easiest way to get to Florence (FLR – Amerigo Vespucci Airport) from the United States is by flying into a major European hub, such as Rome (FCO – Fiumicino), Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA), or Amsterdam (AMS), and then taking a short connecting flight to Florence. Alternatively, you can fly into Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP) and take a high-speed train to Florence’s Santa Maria Novella (SMN) station, which is about 1.5 hours from Rome and 2 hours from Milan.
Travel Note
For entry into Italy (Schengen Area), your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from the Schengen zone. It must also have been issued within the last 10 years and contain at least one blank page for entry and exit stamps. Double-check your passport’s expiration date well in advance to avoid any last-minute travel issues!
Travel Note
If you're connecting to Florence (FLR) from another EU airport, you'll go through customs and passport control at your first point of entry into the Schengen Area. Be sure to allow extra time during your layover to clear immigration before your connecting flight to Florence. Once you arrive in Florence, you won’t need to go through customs again—just grab your bags and go!
Flight
Florence Airport (FLR) is just 15-20 minutes from the city center. Taxis are available outside the arrivals terminal with a fixed fare of €26 to the city (plus small surcharges for luggage or late-night rides). You can also pre-schedule a taxi using Uber or local apps like It Taxi or AppTaxi.
Train
If traveling to Florence from Rome, Milan, or Venice, you will take the train to Firenze Santa Maria Novella (S.M.N) train station. From there, it is a short 10 minute walk to the city center; however, we recommend taking a taxi to spare walking the cobblestones with your luggage.
