Josh and Charlotte met in the most college way imaginable—over a good game of beer pong. Both were students at NC State, and on this particular sophomore-year Saturday, the Pack had just beaten Clemson. Josh celebrated by rushing the field. Charlotte celebrated by watching the game from her waitressing shift at Prestonwood Country Club, dreaming of being anywhere but work. That night, Josh hosted some friends, including Charlotte’s new group of girl friends. When she finally got off work, Sydney—her now Maid of Honor—invited her over. Charlotte almost said no; she was exhausted and had already declined the night before. But something nudged her to get dressed and go. It turned out to be one of the best decisions she ever made! The moment she walked in, Josh’s height, smile, and easy charm caught her eye. They ended up as beer pong partners—destiny’s version of a first date. Charlotte hit the winning shot, Josh lifted her up and spun her around, and somewhere in that moment the story really began. Over the next couple of years, they grew close as friends while their friend groups blended. By senior year, friendship had quietly become something more. Charlotte stayed in Raleigh for work, and—thankfully—Josh chose to stay in Raleigh too. From there, love took the lead.
