Question

When can I reserve a campsite?

Answer

Reservations open 6 months in advance, so be ready on January 14th!!! We put together a map and review of some of our favorite campsites here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1TNSn6GE6vbmzZ3qya8r3HWbSHDhzmxqwr-JPYPFvdxw/edit?usp=sharing

Question

Will there be cell service/wifi?

Answer

Cell service is often spotty or nonexistent. ***Download maps, directions, and important info ahead of time!!! Plan to unplug!

Question

If I am NOT camping, how do I get the the reception/ events?

Answer

We STRONGLY encourage carpooling! There is some free parking at the Freeman Creek Trailhead just across the street from the campground. From there, walk over to Quaking Aspen Campground and head left to the groupsite loop (you won't miss us!) Additionally, the is some extremely limited extra parking in the group site loop (about 5 cars total). Save Quaking Aspen Campground in your maps. When you arrive, your first stop will be the Camp Host (marked on the map above) to purchase an $8 parking permit. Let him know you are with the Hartlin Family group at Site C and proceed to the group site loop to park (only if space is available). Because parking is so limited, we highly encourage guests to stay at the campground (plus we like you and want to be near you!)

Question

If I am camping, how do I get to the reception/ events?

Answer

The campground is relatively small, so everything is walkable! It is very easy to walk to and from the group site loop/camp host/yurts and single campsites. Follow the map above!

Question

Where do I get gas?

Answer

FILL UP BEFORE YOUR DRIVE UP! The nearest gas stations are ~1hr from camp! Fill up in the foothills BEFORE you start driving up the mountain (and keep an eye on your tank throughout the week!) Closest gas through Porterville: Eagle Feather Trading Post #1, 31267 CA-190, Porterville, CA 93257 Closest gas through California Hot Springs: OASIS MART, 23215 Ave 56, Ducor, CA 93218

Question

Where do I get food?

Answer

This area is very rural, so be sure to shop BEFORE head up the mountain. Grocery shopping at home is ideal, but if you choose to stop on the way, Grocery Outlet in Porterville (~1.5 hr from camp) is the best place for a larger grocery run. For little odds and ends, the closest market is the Pierpoint General Store (~30 min from camp) *Important Note: We will feed all guest dinner at Friday's reception, but otherwise please be prepared to feed yourself during your stay.

Question

Where do I get ice?

Answer

The closest place for ice is the Pierpoint General Store (~30 min from camp). For campers, a great trick is to freeze water bottles ahead of time... works as ice for the first few days and gives you some ice cold water once it melts!

Question

Are there restrooms/ showers?

Answer

This beautiful, rural campground is rustic! There are several vault or pit toilets (outhouses). Showers are not available, but we love to heat up water and take turns washing each others hair for a camp "spa day". Bring toiletries, hand sanitizer, and wipes!

Question

Are there bears or wildlife?

Answer

Yes—this is bear country. But do not worry! Black bears are small and relatively timid and will not hurt you (unless you're actin' foolish and getting TOO CLOSE or between a mama and her babies). To help keep the bears wild: -Keep all food, trash, and scented items secured -Never leave food or trash out -Follow campground food-storage rules carefully -Always clean up before bed

Question

Is there water at the campground?

Answer

Yes! There are lots of spigots around camp with potable water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking. It is well water, which may taste a bit different than you're used to, so if you're picky be sure to bring drinking water with you.

For all the days along the way
