The Sanderling Resort
Our ceremony, and reception will take place at the Sanderling Resort. A room block is reserved for September 11–13, 2026. To book your stay, when you click the link below, you may need to adjust the dates to arrive on 09/11 and depart on 09/13 in order for the group rate to appear. Once those dates are selected, available rooms will show up as an option. If any of guests prefer to book over the phone, call the Sanderling directly and reference group code "GSW926" or give them our last names. That same code can also be used on our main Sanderling website or via the booking link shared. If any guests would like to stay additional nights beyond the contracted dates, here’s what you’ll need to do: - Book the contracted dates (09/11–09/13) using your link. - Email both of the following contacts with their confirmation number and the additional dates they’d like to request: csalazar@thesanderling.com & mkcarlson@thesanderling.com The Sanderling kindly asks that you email instead of calling, as only Cassie Salazar (Front Office Manager) and Mary Kay Carlson (Reservations Specialist) are set up to assist with group modifications. Email also helps ensure their request reaches the right people. If the requested dates and room type are available, they’ll do their best to extend the group rate. Space at the resort is limited, so we recommend booking early. If the room block is full and you’d still like to stay at the Sanderling, please reach out to Mary or Kevin - we’re happy to request additional rooms if availability allows.

Hampton Inn & Suites Outer Banks/Corolla
The Hampton Inn & Suites in Corolla is located about 16 miles south of the Sanderling Resort. As of 9/15/2025, booking is now available! Guests will need to contact the hotel directly at 252.453.6565 and reference the Sheckels/Gerard Wedding in order to receive the 15% discount. There is currently a two-night minimum stay requirement during the weekend (Friday & Saturday).

Vacation Home Rental Information
When it comes to Outer Banks vacation rentals, the growing trend is for several families and/or parties to rent a large home together, splitting the cost of the house and all staying under one roof. Some groups also prefer to rent neighboring homes. Cost depends on size, the proximity to the water, and the season. Vacation rentals get booked up fairly quickly, and booking opens for homes typically a year or more in advance. Travel by Car Information
Below are the approximate travel times by car to our wedding location according to various states: - Virginia: Approximately 4 to 4.5 hours, depending on the specific starting point within Virginia. For example, the drive from Virginia Beach is around 2 hours and 4 minutes, while from further west in Virginia, like Fredericksburg, it could take about 5 hours and 25 minutes. - Maryland: Roughly 5 to 6 hours. The travel time can vary based on your location in Maryland. For instance, from Baltimore, the drive is estimated to be around 6 hours and 6 minutes. - Florida: Expect a significantly longer drive, typically around 11 to 13 hours. This will depend on your departure city in Florida, as it's a large state. Please note that these are estimated driving times and can be affected by factors such as traffic, road conditions, and the specific route taken. It's always a good idea to check real-time traffic updates before you travel!
