They say ‘timing is everything’, Amanda and Danny would say they may be right. They were first introduced on Spring Break in the Bahamas by mutual friends. Though they got along well from the start, they were nothing more than friendly acquaintances. Danny was a senior, soon to be heading to Chicago for work following graduation. Amanda was a sophomore doing her best to balance responsibility and fun (her parents would say those scales tipped in the wrong direction). About a year and a half after meeting, Amanda and Danny’s story took a turn. Danny planned to meet up with one of his usual wingmen, Eric Bokar, for a night out at one of Chicago’s finest late-night bars. Upon walking in to meet Eric, the first person Danny saw was Amanda, who was in town for interviews. Call it a lucky coincidence, timing, or fate but after catching up (and a few tequila shots), the two traded numbers beginning daily conversation that hasn’t stopped. The two found a ‘special spot’ in Chicago: a beautiful courtyard behind an old church downtown. Amanda would say it was her “favorite place in the city” as they would stroll through it, and Danny knew this is where he would someday propose to Amanda. That day came on July 26th, 2019. The cover for getting Amanda to dress up and meet him at a bar near the courtyard was a, “very important work dinner that his peers, boss, and boss’s boss would all be attending”. Amanda seemingly bought the story, though she will tell you otherwise, and met him at the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. On their way to “dinner” the two passed by the courtyard, and Danny got down on one knee (which he had been practicing that day in an empty conference room at work) and asked Amanda to be his forever. Between happy tears and frantic head-nodding, the couple thinks there was a verbal “Yes!”. The two headed back to their apartment where family and friends were waiting to celebrate the start of the couples’ “forever”.
