The Beginning of Us

Some love stories begin with fireworks. Ours began with a simple Hinge message and somehow turned into the kind of love people spend their whole lives hoping to find. Marshall had been living in Nashville for four years when Andrea moved there in 2024 for work. New city, new chapter, and with zero expectations, Andrea downloaded Hinge, never imagining it would change her life forever. Marshall had already been on the app for years searching for the one, and somehow, out of everyone in Nashville, fate decided to put them in each other’s path. Andrea matched with Marshall almost immediately. He was the third person she matched with and, thankfully, the only one that mattered. On March 22, 2024, at exactly 7:45 in the morning, Marshall sent Andrea a text that would unknowingly change both of their lives forever. “Hey, it’s Marshall. Are you off to LA today or already there?” And just like that, their love story began. They spent the next few days texting nonstop, learning little pieces about each other one conversation at a time. Eventually, Marshall asked Andrea out for ice cream. The first date had to be rescheduled because Andrea was nervous. It had been awhile since she had gone on a real date, and Marshall’s profile was filled with shirtless pictures, which definitely did not help calm her nerves. She kept wondering if the sweet, funny guy she had been texting was actually real. Thankfully for both of them, he was. On April 2, Marshall pulled up outside Andrea’s apartment in his bright blue truck, wearing jeans, a flannel, cowboy boots, and the biggest smile on his face. Andrea walked outside in jeans, a knitted top, no makeup, and her natural hair. The second they hugged, she felt something she could not explain. Comfort. Safety. Familiarity. Like somehow she had known him before. Also, he smelled really good, which absolutely deserves to be included in the story. Marshall opened the truck door for Andrea and drove them to Jennings for ice cream. Throughout the night, he quietly showed Andrea exactly who he was. He walked on the outside of the sidewalk to protect her. He listened closely to every word she said. He made her laugh nonstop while her mint chocolate chip ice cream melted because she was too busy talking to eat it. Meanwhile, Marshall finished his brambleberry crisp with absolutely no problem. Hours passed without either of them realizing it. What was supposed to be a quick ice cream date turned into closing down Jennings while talking about family, dreams, life, and everything in between. Somewhere between the laughter and deep conversations, they both realized this felt different. By the end of the night, neither of them were ready to say goodbye.

When We Fell In Love

Their second date somehow managed to top the first. Marshall told Andrea to dress casual because he had planned a surprise, but before picking her up, he warned her about one important detail. He had gotten a mullet. Andrea told him she would decide how she felt about it in person because she physically cannot hide her facial expressions. But the second she saw him, she loved it. Honestly, the mullet became iconic. Marshall took Andrea to Puttshack, where they spent the night aggressively competing against each other because both of them are extremely competitive. Marshall still claims he “let” Andrea win, but to this day, she disagrees. Neither of them wanted the night to end, so they spontaneously ended up at a bar in Midtown, talking for hours again. Somewhere between the drinks, deep conversations, and constant laughter, they shared their first kiss. Andrea remembers feeling like Marshall felt like home. Marshall remembers feeling like he could completely be himself around Andrea. For the first time, both of them stopped searching. A few weeks later, Marshall officially asked Andrea to be his girlfriend in front of her friends and cousin at a Nashville bar. Andrea immediately said yes, but also reminded him that since they were both drunk, he better remember asking her the next morning. Thankfully, he did. From there, their love story only grew stronger. They built a life full of concerts, boat days, late-night talks, traveling, adventures, and falling more in love with each other through every season. Nashville became the backdrop to their twenties, and every memory somehow felt bigger, brighter, and more meaningful because they were experiencing it together. Marshall knew Andrea was the one after she flew to San Diego to meet his family and fit into his world so naturally, it felt like she had always belonged there. Andrea knew Marshall was the one during a movie night at his house. Out of every possible movie he could have picked, he chose White Chicks, her all-time favorite movie. She immediately called her cousin afterward and said, “I think I found my person.” Because nothing says soulmates quite like sharing the exact same sense of humor.

Choosing Forever

After a year and seven months together, Andrea moved in with Marshall, never realizing he was already secretly planning forever. While Andrea’s parents were celebrating their anniversary in Italy, Marshall called them to ask for permission to marry her. They were so excited, they started telling complete strangers in Italy that their daughter was getting engaged. Then came November 1, 2025. Marshall told Andrea he was golfing with his brother while Andrea planned to meet friends at Cheekwood for the Day of the Dead festival. As Andrea walked toward the mansion, her friends started acting strange and told her to follow a certain path. On the ground, she noticed tiny plastic ladybugs. She bent down to pick one up, then another, and when she looked up, Marshall stepped out from behind the bushes. Andrea instantly burst into tears. Marshall walked toward her crying too and poured his heart out, telling Andrea how deeply he loved her and how certain he was that she was the person he wanted forever with. Then he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The ring was inside a crystal box covered in ladybugs, honoring Andrea’s sister, Aimee, and having her there in spirit for one of the most important moments of their lives. Through tears, laughter, and shaking hands, Andrea said yes. But Marshall still was not done surprising her. Waiting nearby were Andrea’s parents, godparents, cousins, and loved ones, who had secretly traveled to celebrate them. Andrea cried all over again, seeing everyone together in one place and feeling more loved than she ever had before. That night, everyone celebrated together in Nashville, dancing, laughing, crying happy tears, and celebrating the beginning of forever. And somehow, the most beautiful part of their story is that it is still only the beginning.
