Fate is a funny thing. Ordinarily, the beginning of a great love story is not often precipitated by a devastating and cataclysmic event. But fortunately for all of us–true love is anything but ordinary. In the fall of 2020, when the world was in the midst of one of the worst pandemics humankind had ever seen, love nevertheless found a way of bringing Logan and Chelsea together. At the time, neither were looking to start a relationship. Chelsea was studying to take the bar exam and the idea of finding her soulmate seemed like a concept found only in fairytales and the sappiest of romance novels. Logan, meanwhile, was perfectly content living the life of a young bachelor focused only on his friends, the Dawgs, and his trusty four-legged side-kick, Apollo. But fate had other plans. On a whim, and perhaps due in part from the intense periods of boredom and loneliness most of us experienced during lockdown, both Chelsea and Logan decided to download a dating app. And in the simple yet swift action of swiping right–all of the stars and planets in the universe aligned. What began with a tongue-in-cheek pick up line turned into several days of non-stop messaging back and forth... Messaging then turned into a half-dozen Zoom dates that would last for hours (emphasis here on hours). Zoom dates then turned into hundreds of in-person dates that neither wanted to ever end... Although neither Logan nor Chelsea were looking for their soulmate when they decided to download that dating app, both quickly realized that they had finally found the person their hearts had been searching for their entire lives: each other.

For the last few years, Chelsea and Logan have celebrated their anniversary at the Iberian Pig in Decatur. So when Logan came to Chelsea a few weeks beforehand to suggest that they go ahead and make their reservations, she had no idea that he had even bigger plans for them that evening than dinner. In fact, she had no idea that for the last several weeks, Logan had been quietly scheming with both of their parents about how to make their anniversary the most special yet. After getting dolled up in a swanky dress and a well-cut suit, Logan and Chelsea made their way to Decatur and walked hand in hand towards the town square. As they neared the historic courthouse, Logan got down on one knee and could barely finish his speech before Chelsea eagerly squealed out an enthusiastic yes (several times might I add). Cheers erupted from across the sidewalk and Chelsea looked over to see their two families walking toward them–grinning ear to ear. After some warm hugs, a few quick photos, and a wonderful meal at their favorite anniversary spot, Logan and Chelsea made their way home with full bellies and even fuller hearts.
