Question

Any tips for avoiding altitude sickness?

Answer

1. Stay hydrated. Drinking a lot of water even before you leave can help you adjust to the altitude when you get to Colorado. 2.If possible avoid drinking or drinking heavily the first day or two. If you do drink make sure to stay hydrated in between! Alcohol hits different at 8,000 feet. 3. If hiking, remember to climb slowly or consider taking a day or two to adjust to the altitude. 4.Eat CARBS!! (aka our favorite tip) When you’re at a higher altitude, you need more calories. So pack plenty of healthy snacks, including lots of whole grains.
