It all started when Jessica joined the Stony Brook Sailing Club during her final semester of college on a whim. She had never set foot on a sailboat before but was eager to try something new. On a freezing Valentine’s Day morning, Jessica showed up for her very first practice and was paired with Nick, who had the task of teaching her the basics. While demonstrating how to tack, or turning the boat through the wind, Jessica didn’t react in time and fell into the water. Nick pulled her out, and a connection was made that would shape the years to come. What began as a chance pairing quickly blossomed into a friendship, and soon after, a relationship filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable adventures. In September 2022, they moved into their first apartment together, and a month later, welcomed their beloved cat, Zeke, into their lives. By August 2023, they had found their first home. On June 21, 2025, Nick proposed, and Jessica said yes. They’re excited to start this next chapter together and can’t wait to celebrate their wedding day surrounded by the family and friends they love most.
