The only good thing that came from 8AM organic chemistry lab was meeting each other! Brief conversations at the lab bench soon turned into long talks at the library while we were supposed to be studying. Quickly, we fell in love with each other's personalities and wanted to spend more and more time together. Sharing a lot in common, we went to the same church, were involved in the same on-campus ministry, and therefore shared a love for The Lord. We reminisce about going to Austin, TX before we started dating for Grant’s BYX (Brothers Under Christ) semi-formal. He made a “really great playlist” of songs to play on the drive there in case our conversations were dead, but we ended up not needing music because we laughed and chatted all the way there and back. We both agree that’s when we started to fall in love with each other.

Everyone deserves Oscars for the parts they played in keeping our proposal a surprise. The families nonchalantly told us we were taking "Christmas card pictures" and we met up at the Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens. Michele slept with her phone to keep secret the plans that were about to unfold, and Mike played clueless all day (when this plan was in the works for weeks!) Following a sweet one-on-one walk through the gardens, Grant so sweetly and perfectly proposed while our family secretly watched from a distance. One of Lane's friends was the photographer who captured the moment, so it felt like Lane and his wife, Sophie, were there with us (even though they're all the way in Austria.) It was the most special day.
