Through mutual friends, Ben & Kara were convinced to join a shared ski house in Frisco, CO back in 2021 and little did they know, saying yes to joining would forever change their lives. When ski season kicked off that year, they met the very first weekend. What followed were countless weekends of skiing with friends, late-night laughs, and cozying up in the infamous ski house above the Summit Daily. Between shared rooms and bunk beds, card games, happy hours at The Tavern West, lots of dogs and early-morning lift lines and powder days, a friendship quickly formed — and by March 2022, that friendship turned into something more when they went on their first date. Soon after, they started carpooling to the mountains together, and everyone around them knew it was the start of something special. Over the months, Ben and Kara discovered how much they had in common — from their love of the outdoors to their shared appreciation for craft beer, sushi dinners, and ice cream — and how curious they were to learn about each other’s worlds. By summer, Kara brought Ben as her date to a friend’s wedding in Chicago, which happened to be the perfect first trip for them: a visit to Ben's hometown and meeting his friends too! By fall, they were in Pittsburgh visiting Kara’s family and attending the Pitt vs. WVU football game — where Ben got to walk the Pitt campus he had visited years earlier when his oldest sister was a student. Eventually, Ben moved into Kara’s townhome, and life together officially began. The garage got a full makeover — filled with skis, bikes, dirt bikes, and workbenches (along with a boat and truck that wouldn't fit) — a true reflection of their shared adventures. (Fun fact: They’ve now skied 20 mountains together — and counting!) As the years went on, their lives intertwined seamlessly — countless trips to the midwest, traveling for friends’ weddings across the country, celebrating milestones and being each other biggest cheerleaders as they accomplished goals and grew in their careers, and becoming a natural part of each other’s families. Then, in March 2025, during a weekend trip to Steamboat with their close ski crew, Ben completely surprised Kara by proposing on a bridge near downtown — the very same spot where they had taken silly selfies a few years before. It couldn’t have been more perfect. When it came time to choose where to get married, the answer was easy. Colorado is where their story began and where they’ve built their life together. It only feels right to start their forever surrounded by the mountains and people they love most. They can’t wait to celebrate with you — and are so grateful you’re making the trip to join them!
