Our journey is a bit unconventional, but it’s a story we love to tell! We first met in college. The first time we crossed paths was at Phi Delta Theta's party, where my then-boyfriend introduced me to Shawn as a potential roommate of his. Little did we know, that would be the start of a beautiful friendship. Over time, we became close friends, as they ended up rooming together. I quickly saw that Shawn was an incredibly respectable guy. He was a man who didn’t “need” anyone. It became a joke of mine to play matchmaker, convinced I could find the perfect woman for him. After all, who doesn’t love a good double date? I took my wingwoman duties very seriously—though, to my dismay, no romantic sparks ever truly stuck. As time went on, my then relationship ended, but Shawn and I stayed friends, determined not to let that get in the way of the friendship we had built. We texted almost daily, hung out, and just enjoyed spending time together exploring the city, trying out new foods, and experiencing new hobbies. One day, out of the blue, my mom asked, “So when are you two going to start dating already?” It had never crossed my mind, but when I thought about it, I realized how perfectly compatible we were. We were best friends and we had so much fun together. He was a good man and even my mother could see that. And I guess, in the end, I’m happy to have been such a terrible wingwoman after-all, because now; years later I'm preparing to marry my best friend. I never believed in dating someone I was friends with but I am so grateful for how we ended up. We saw each other at our worst moments and our best and still chose each other- no rose tented glasses! So much beauty in the bond of a friendship and whats better is being able to marry my best friend! It’s crazy how life works out, and we’re so excited to share this next chapter with all of you.
