How We Met

Fate is an Intense Thing

Picture it: Media, PA 2007 (we think). Christian is at a bar with his friends. Time to leave comes, and, on his way out, there's a good-looking woman outside the front door. His friends keep walking, but he decides to turn back to talk to her. They hit it off, and go on two dates. It wasn't a romantic match, but they remained friends and connected on Facebook. While they never saw one another again in person, they enjoyed some FB banter. The woman's name was Mandy. Picture it: Mt. Airy, Philly, May 2017. Adina's fed up with the dating scene and decides to take all dating apps off her phone. She pulls up the Tinder app to delete it, and the profile on the screen is a hot guy, and Tinder tells Adina that they have one mutual FB friend...and Adina sees that it's her best friend, Mandy. Immediately, Adina screenshots the hot guy, texts it over to Mandy with the message "Nu??!!" which, in Yiddish, means "Well?!?!" And then, "How do you have a hot single friend you've not told me about?!" Immediately, Mandy hops onto Facebook to do a reconnaissance mission on Christian's page to find out whether or not he was still married - and, of course, he was not. Mandy then messaged Christian to tell him her best friend just saw him on Tinder and thinks he's hot; Christian asked about Mandy's friend - details, and, of course, for a photo. Christian felt the reciprocal attraction, and asked if he could have Adina's number. Moments later, Christian sent Adina the first text message, and they messaged back and forth for an hour and a half - and then non-stop for a week, whereupon they finally went on their first date. The first date was supposed to be a couple of hours of thrift store hopping - but turned into thrift stores, Home Depot (where the first kiss happened - yeahhhh romantic, baby!), dinner, a hike in the woods, and...getting waxed! The date lasted 11 hours, and neither Adina nor Christian went on a date with anyone else ever again.
