How We Met

(Lexy's perspective)

Our story begins in 2014 at Michigan State University. At the time, I was living with my friends, Alyssa and Meg. One afternoon, we saw the neighbor boys playing catch in the yard. Daniel instantly caught my attention. Soon thereafter, Meg and I devised what we thought to be a genius plan to meet the neighbors. That night, Meg and I baked cupcakes, pretended we had extras, and brought them next door to give to the neighbors. Unfortunately, Daniel was not home that weekend, but we met his roommates and our friendship with the neighbors blossomed from there. As Meg, Alyssa and I spent more time with the neighbors, Daniel & I quickly became close friends. Our relationship eventually evolved from neighbors to best friends to now getting married! Daniel even proposed in front of our former houses at Michigan State. Over the years, we have grown into our relationship, traveled a bit, started our careers, developed a mutual love for the Detroit Lions, tried to find a hobby together (still searching for one) and laughed a lot along the way. We now have a strong foundation that was first built on friendship, and we are thankful it worked out the way it did!

How We Met

(Daniel's perspective)

A few days after moving into our senior year house at 260 Milford, at Michigan State, my roommates and I were playing catch out front. We noticed that a house-full of girls were moving in next door and were looking for an excuse to talk to them. Knowing that our supreme athletic ability would intimidate anyone, I looked for an opportunity to introduce myself and quickly found one when the light outside their front door wasn’t working that day. I ran over to help out and introduced myself in the process. This is when I met Lexy’s mom and Lexy’s roommates, Meg and Alyssa. I didn’t meet Lexy until several weeks later after the girls had brought cupcakes over on a Saturday when I was out of town. They were at our house when I got home and I was very excited that we were making friends with what my mom began to call “the cute little girls next door”. We soon became inseparable and our late nights together became the highlight of my college experience and what I will look back on as one of the best times in my life. Being that we were both in complicated relationships at the time, early on Lexy and I were just friends. However, I quickly noticed the extra attention she paid me as the group spent more time together. I am fortunate in that when Lexy makes her mind up about something she pursues it relentlessly. Lucky for me, in this case I was that something. I was drawn to her laugh and infectious personality. She always had a way to make things more fun. We then stayed at school a few extra days over Christmas break just to spend time together and from there the rest is history.
