The Crested Butte area has a long tradition of ranching—you’ll see it when you arrive, driving up the Gunnison Valley toward Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Instead of buildings and development, cattle graze the pastures on both sides of the highway. There’s perhaps no better way to experience those ranching roots than on horseback, meandering through mountain meadows and majestic aspen groves. 1 1/2 & 3 hour guided rides are available starting at $80 per person. Participants must be at least 7 years old.
