The VMFA is one of the largest comprehensive art museums in the United States! After visiting the rich art culture indoors, the VMFA has a expansive outdoor lawn, where visitors are welcomed to picnic. The museum cafe sells snacks, alcoholic beverages, and non-alcoholic beverages (please check cafe hours before visiting). You are welcome to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages. The VMFA is open 365 days with free general admission.
We recommend setting aside time to visit the James River! Brown’s Island is a perfect place to observe a stretch of the James River. Visit the outdoor park area and walk across the pedestrian bridge to sightsee different vantage points of the city. This is a favorite place of the couple’s dog, Cash!
Located near Scott’s Addition, River City Roll provides an elevated bowling experience for the whole family! Not into bowling? RCR has a restaurant and bar area as well as an outdoor dog friendly patio. Take advantage of their food menu (especially the pizza!) it is delicious! If you have a large group, we recommend making a reservation.
