A story as old as time, we met on a porch while at a party at Michigan State. As the story goes, Daniel spent the night before talking to his older brother Adam about how he was "in love with" and "going to marry" this girl from Chicago that he had never met. Being the resourceful guy he is, and the help of a few friends, Daniel got the introduction he was hoping for. The rest is history.
On a trip to South Carolina for Leah’s Spring Break in April of last year, we made an overnight trip to Savannah, Georgia. Daniel felt “sick” for the better part of the afternoon. As the evening approached, we decided to grab drinks at the beautiful rooftop bar of our hotel. As the sun was setting over the Savannah River, Leah remarked “Wow…what a pretty sunset”, a hopeful hint to being the perfect moment for a proposal, if it were to happen on this vacation. In response, Daniel replied with “Yeah, you should take a picture”. As Leah’s hope was dashed, we paid our bar tab and set out to stroll through downtown Savannah on our way to our dinner reservation. We stopped in one of the city parks to admire the fountain. As the church bells rang throughout, Daniel asked a couple passing by, to take a picture. After several pictures, Daniel said something he’d never admit to, “Can you take another? I don’t like the way I look on this side.” Our photographer’s intuition telling them something is about to happen, switched the camera from photo to video. Daniel turned to Leah, got down on one knee and uttered several sentiments that neither of us remember and proposed! We are forever grateful to the couple, whose names we never got, for this gift of our recorded memory.
