Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach. All three of these beaches are approximately twenty minutes from downtown! Sullivan's Island- Park between stations 16-26 for the largest beach area. If you're out here, you have to stop at the Co-op beforehand to get sandwiches and Frose! Drinking on the beach is prohibited in Charleston so make sure to bring cups. Restaurants on SI: Poe's, the Longboard, Sullivan's Fish Camp, Obstinate Daughter Folly Beach- An idyllic beach town nestled right outside Charleston. Once here, there are surf shops, ice cream, and multiple cabana beach bars. Isle of Palms- A quieter beach but probably the prettiest! Check out the Windjammer to see if there is live music directly on the beach.
Walk down King Street for a day of shopping. On Saturdays there is the farmer's market in Marion Square (right across from Francis Marion Hotel). Local vendors and produce will be set up all morning. On the second Sunday of each month (conveniently April 14!), they will actually close off King Street to allow visitors to shop and enjoy walking through the streets. Starting at noon there are multiple vendors to shop from. Other things to see: The Battery, Rainbow Row, Broad Street, the City Market, Waterfront Park There are a ton of walking history tours. We recommend booking with Two Sisters Walking Tours.
