Things To Do in Memphis

Beale Street

If you have to do only one thing while in Memphis, this needs to be it. Beale Street is not only very close to the wedding venue, but also just an all-round cool place to traverse (it's literally a walking street). In recent years, the food prices have gone up (which Erica isn't entirely sure if it's actually justified...), but consistently tasty. Just watch out for the kids who are doing 14 back handsprings down the street and try not to get hit.

Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid

Although it pains Erica seeing the big "Bass Pro Shop" logo on the sides of the shiny downtown Memphis landmark, she does admit that the pyramid is a unique place to check out while in town. You can even stay at the hotel in the pyramid if that floats your boat!

Memphis Zoo

Although the beloved pandas Ya Ya and Le Le departed to China in mid 2023 (much to Erica's disappointment), the Memphis Zoo is still a super great destination to hit up if you have time. Located in Midtown, this zoo is one of the best in the country and reminds Erica of her childhood.

Stax Museum of American Soul Music

National Civil Rights Museum

This is a must-see when coming to Memphis.

Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum

Graceland

If you really just can’t resist and feel compelled to make the pilgrimage to Elvis’s home, Erica won’t judge. In fact, please let her know what it’s like once you’re there because as said before, she has never visited (like the true Memphian she is).

Overton Square

Located in Midtown Memphis, Overton Square is one of the city's main entertainment districts and has several playhouses, live music venues, and interesting places to eat.

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

This is Erica's FAVORITE fried chicken place (yes, even including Korean fried chicken).
